Vance County NC Seal
Our Vance County Seal was adopted by the Vance County Board of Commissioners on 5 November 1995. It was
recommended by a committee of representatives from various aspects of our community. The seal is unique to
our county and incorporates various symbols and pieces of information:
- Three Stars: Taken from the banner of the crest of the family of Zebulon Vance,
the 10th and the 16th Governor of the State of North Carolina
- 1881: Date Vance County was formed
- Vision: Signifies the new movement of looking to the future
- Vitality: Reflects a renewed progressive spirit
- Variety: Addresses the diversity of resources, opportunities and people in Vance County
- Gold Roping: Consistent with the gold roping on the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina,
it highlights the relationship between our State and Vance County
(Information furnished by the office of Vance County Manager, Jerry L. Asycue, 2012)
